Yallourn Mine

Yallourn's open cut mine extracts approximately 18 million tonnes of brown coal per annum and 4 million cubic metres per annum of overburden, utilising four coal dredges, one overburden dredge, and over 20kms of coal and overburden conveyor.

Scope of Work

Total maintenance and plant asset managment of three conveyor systems and four bucket wheel excavators.  Yallourn Energy is currently in the transition of moving from bucket wheel excavators for coal mining to slope mining using bulldozers and feeder breakers.

Achievements

Mobiled within one month with no loss of coal supply

50% reduction in maintenance cost/tonne in the first year

overburden production increased by 26% due to increased efficiency

coal supply reliability improved from 99.8% to 99.95%
