Safety
Silcar’s goals in safety are:
1. The Silcar organisation and workplaces free of work related injury or illness.
2. A caring and mindful safety culture.
Silcar operates on the basis that it is possible to work without causing harm to people. Silcar people work in complex and changing environments. We strive for a keen awareness of the threats and hazards in the environment, our vulnerabilities and our capability to handle any situation. At Silcar, we nurture practices that maximize awareness, we encourage active questioning and we see each failure as an opportunity to learn. We use the word "mindful" as a general label for these qualities. Silcar respects the dignity and potential of people and recognises that we can only achieve mindfulness and safety through people.
