Evidence for APM
Independent research shows that the best performing companies are looking to APM for asset performance and financial efficiency.
APM is a well-developed concept in certain industries and organisations that are dependent on the safe and reliable operation of complex plant.
The Aberdeen Group, a provider of business-related, fact-based research services based in Boston, USA, has conducted studies into APM in manufacturing industries.
Research from Aberdeen Group’s benchmark report, Ground Up Strategies for Asset Performance Management, found that “78% of Best-in-Class companies look to Asset Performance Management (APM) capabilities and strategies to optimise asset utilisation, availability, and flexibility to improve return on assets (ROA). Further, to get the best use from these capabilities, Aberdeen found that they are approaching APM in a holistic manner, with equal importance given to process and organisational capabilities, followed by investment in technology and knowledge management capabilities.”
